Back when "racing", was..."racing". Golden Age of NASCAR. Grew up about 5 miles from A.J. Foyt's ranch...he was us kids' hero in the 70's.
3:17:46 A J Foyt going apeshit starts here.
35 years ago today, June 25, 1989/2024. Hard to believe! I remember watching this race live as a young kid!
Mayfield almost celebrated too early- Jarrett/Rudd nearly caught him at the finish
The boot doesn't hold the spark plug wire on, it insulates the clip that holds it on. 🙄
Last top 5 finish for Ernie Irvan in his career
Earnhardt Sr the dirtiest driver in Nascar
Al jr expected Big E to lift on the last lap at daytona!! 😂😂
Between 1985 and 1991, this was NASCAR’s only night race
The high point of a surprisingly subpar 2001 season for Roush Racing. Really, the only year in the Taurus era that Roush didn't either have a big-time race winner or a top 5 threat.
One thing that some forget about this race: Gordon the year before in his first Coke 600 won the pole and finished second
I'm from Georgia, and I always rooted for Earnhardt. Loved Elliott, he just whined too much. 😅
Goeff Bodine what a cry baby sob
Ford blue oval always 1st
1:05:25 crash
Love the behind the scene commentary. Really shows how hard these announcers worked to get us info
2:18:30 Thumbnail incident with Rusty Wallace (2 MGD car) and Brett Bodine (26 Quaker State car)
I had my appendix taken out that day so i watched the race from my hospital bed
This was the last great year of nascar.
This was NASCAR. Today its whats in the toilet.

Nice cover photo @bakerracingpix
Darrel Waltrip considered Talladega the "CAPITAL" of Boggity
Racing was much more exciting back then.
The drivers and the cars were interesting and real. Not homogenized.
Feels like half the time i pull up one of these old races a Petty is the grand marshal.
1:06:27
Kyle Petty had a Rolls Royce?
I really really love watching these old Nascar races a whole whole lot and I still watch Nascar and I am big Nascar fan a whole whole lot
Leave it the pos Earnhardt Sr always causing wrecks nearly killing Rusty Wallace he is known for this behavior his entire career
OLD NASCAR WAS SO MUCH BETTER

Meanwhile in "Sunday Night Lights" a NR2003 Series by @GraySpeedProductions, Bubba Nissen is: A 2x Busch Series Champion (1983 & 1984) A Daytona 500 Champion (1992) and a Cup Series Champion (1996).
I use to go down to 45 Park Road in Tinton Falls, NJ to visit the IROC race shop. I worked with a guy (Can't remember his name) at Permacel Tape. We worked the night shift from Midnight till 8AM. After that this guy would go down to the IROC shop where he worked on the IROC cars. He introduced me to Jay Signore and Ray Evernham and they let me check out the cars being worked on and I was told I could just walk around. One of the workers ask if I would like to get in and sit in a IROC car which was great. I could at least say the cars I saw being worked on were the same cars that would be racing in the next race.

The drivers seem so much more Humble back then .....Nascar today seems full of drama
Nascar went to SH%^& when Toyota joined havent watched it since
1:27 look at this daddy....lol. king of cool
Those Fords were impossible to beat before restrictor plates.
Pearson okey dokin' Petty on the last lap...lol. Pearson was one of, if not THE, best driver Nascar ever saw.
10:31 lol...Keith said they woulda had a fender bender? Lmao...he woulda t-boned him to death. That was close..
The dubbed in sound effects are 😂😂
Greg Sacks proved he wasn’t worthy of a top cup ride on this day.
imagine the first nascar official that said: "the cars are too fast, we need to step in"
FORD FOR THE WIN
They make them winged cars illegal?
